A developmental condition is not a generic cell deficit
Autism involves varied developmental characteristics and support needs. A claim that stem cells treat autism must be assessed against specific outcomes and reliable clinical evidence. General descriptions of immune modulation or brain regeneration do not establish that an intervention benefits an autistic child or adult.
Ask what change was measured
Communication, daily living skills, well-being and family priorities are not interchangeable outcomes. Assessments can be influenced by expectations, concurrent support and normal development. Ask whether research used suitable comparison groups and independent assessment, and whether adverse events and people lost to follow-up were fully reported.
Consent and burden matter
Children need appropriate parental consent and consideration of their comfort and assent when possible. Adults should be supported in making their own decisions. Travel, unfamiliar environments, needles and intensive visits may create substantial burdens. The proposed benefit should be weighed against those burdens as well as medical risks and costs.
Keep useful support in place
Do not withdraw established communication, educational or health support because a clinic promises a cure. Have an independent clinician review the exact protocol and evidence. Ask how outcomes would be followed at home and whether the research has legitimate ethics oversight. A testimonial is not enough to justify an invasive procedure.
