Symptoms can signal broader health issues

Erectile dysfunction can have vascular, neurological, hormonal, medication-related or psychological contributors. A urological assessment should identify relevant causes and cardiovascular considerations before a regenerative procedure is proposed. A cell injection package that skips this evaluation may miss a more useful treatment or an important underlying condition.

Ask what the procedure actually is

Platelet preparations, shockwave devices and cell products are different interventions. If stem cells are offered, request the source, processing method, injection location and evidence for that precise approach. A study of one preparation should not be used to imply that every regenerative treatment has the same benefit.

Choose meaningful outcomes

Ask how function was measured, whether participants still used medicines, and how long any improvement persisted. Satisfaction alone can be influenced by expectations and other treatment changes. A useful discussion includes the proportion of patients who did not benefit and the potential complications of the procedure.

Review alternatives and follow-up

Discuss established medicines, devices and other appropriate options with a urologist. Bring current medication and relevant medical history, and do not stop prescribed treatment without advice. For an overseas intervention, request a plan for pain, swelling or other problems after return and confirm which clinician will provide ongoing care.
