PATIENT EVIDENCE & CONSULTATION GUIDE

Start with official guidance
Medical Korea provides information about medical visa applications, but an individual decision depends on nationality, purpose, and circumstances. Check the applicable requirements with the Korean consulate or official immigration service before making nonrefundable arrangements. Do not rely on another patient’s experience as proof of your own eligibility.
Gather supporting information
Ask the hospital for confirmation of the planned consultation or treatment and the expected duration. Official guidance describes medical and financial supporting documents for applications. Verify the current document list for your application location, including whether translations, originals, or additional information are required.
Include companions and contingencies
If a caregiver will travel with you, ask separately about their entry requirements. Discuss what would happen if medical care extends beyond the initial schedule. Keep the institution’s international patient contact available for document questions. A hospital invitation does not itself guarantee that a visa will be issued.
Keep clinical and entry decisions separate
Permission to enter Korea does not confirm that a proposed treatment is safe, effective, or appropriate. Similarly, a clinical recommendation does not settle immigration requirements. Maintain two checklists: one for medical readiness and one for travel authorization, and resolve both before departure.
A realistic document timeline
Work backwards from the proposed consultation date, allowing time to obtain the hospital confirmation, gather medical records, and resolve consular questions. Avoid treating an appointment letter as the final step if the application requires additional evidence. If the treatment schedule changes, ask whether updated documentation is needed. Keep a copy of the information submitted so later enquiries are consistent with the purpose and duration described.
Questions for the official enquiry
State your nationality, current place of residence, intended treatment purpose, expected stay, and whether a caregiver accompanies you. Ask which official application route applies and which documents are current for that location. Do not request a guarantee from a clinic coordinator. Immigration advice should come from the relevant authority, while the hospital supplies accurate medical scheduling information to support the enquiry.
