PATIENT EVIDENCE & CONSULTATION GUIDE

Describe your needs clearly

Tell the transport provider whether you use a wheelchair, need assistance with luggage, or cannot comfortably manage stairs. Confirm the pickup point, vehicle access, and room for a companion or equipment. A standard airport transfer may not provide the support required after a procedure.

Avoid a tightly packed arrival day

Allow time for delays, rest, and finding the hospital. Ask whether the first visit involves fasting, tests, or a lengthy assessment before setting the airport pickup schedule. Do not assume that a flight arriving in the morning leaves enough time for an elective procedure later that day.

Plan the return journey separately

Your needs after treatment may differ from those on arrival. Ask the clinician about restrictions and whether a medical escort or other arrangement is necessary. Confirm airline requirements directly when health status affects travel. The clinic’s discharge decision and an airline’s conditions of carriage are separate matters.

Keep contingency contacts

Save the hospital address in Korean and English and the contact details of the international patient office. Agree on what to do if the vehicle is late or your condition changes. If you develop an urgent medical problem, seek medical care rather than continuing with a transfer simply because it has been prepaid.

A transfer rehearsal

Before the treatment day, confirm the exact entrance and whether the driver can reach it. Some large hospitals have multiple buildings and drop-off points. Share the appointment location rather than only the institution name. If you use a wheelchair, confirm whether you will remain seated in it during transport or transfer to a vehicle seat, and discuss any medical limitations with the care team.

Questions for the transport provider

Ask about waiting time, flight delays, cancellation, and assistance from the vehicle to the entrance. Clarify whether the service is ordinary transport or a medically staffed transfer. If medical support is required, ask the clinician to specify it rather than relying on a driver’s reassurance. Save a backup transport option, but do not use it as a substitute for urgent assessment when symptoms change.
